‘Storytelling from our Horticultural Community’

Gathering Biographical Information from Fellows and Senior Members

On behalf of the Australian Institute of Horticulture (AIH), I’m writing to invite you to participate in an exciting new initiative: “Storytelling from our Horticultural Community.” Led by our Chair of Fellows, Annette Irish, this project seeks to collect and share the personal journeys of our esteemed Fellows and senior members.

Why Your Story Matters

Your career and experiences have helped shape our profession. By sharing your story, you will contribute to a living history of horticulture in Australia—a vibrant collection of insights, achievements, and personal reflections that will inspire and guide the next generation of horticulturists.

The Power of Community Storytelling

Storytelling strengthens our connections, honours our collective contributions, and preserves valuable knowledge. Through this project, we aim to foster greater unity across our diverse professional community while celebrating the rich legacy of horticulture.

Looking to the Future

Since 2011, AIH has championed the vision of “Promoting Horticulture – the Profession of the 21st Century.” As we develop our new strategic plan for 2025 and beyond, your story will not only enrich this collection but also help shape our forward direction.

How You Can Contribute

If you’re willing to participate, we invite you to share your career journey and any hopes or reflections you have for the future of our profession. These biographies will form part of an online compendium, with full opportunity for you to review and approve your entry before publication.

Thank you for considering this opportunity to contribute to a meaningful and lasting project. We look forward to hearing your story.

Please let us know if you are happy for us to include your biography, or parts of it, in this collection. For more information or to get involved, you can contact Annette Irish directly at chairfellows@aih.org.au
