The Australian Institute of Horticulture [AIH] has taken a leadership role in advancing shade infrastructure and tree canopy awareness through its ShadeWise initiative, aligned to the NSW Cancer Council and NSW Cancer Institute ShadeSmart Program, through MIFGS, AIH National Conference theme -2024, and support of the soon to be released Conquering Skin Cancer documentary in late 2024
The announcement by the Federal Government of $10M funding is a welcome and significant investment in the identification and early treatment of melanoma and skin cancer screening, which currently costs Australia $1.93B annually and will affect 2 in 3 Australians in their lifetimes.
