Membership Categories

 

General Member 

General membership applicants must have a minimum of Certificate III, Trade or equivalent in the field of Horticulture for membership. A copy of your qualification must be attached with your application for membership for approval.

Members are entitled to use the post nominal MAIH following their name.

Registered Horticulturist (RH) Accreditation

  • New RH applicants must be a member of AIH as a prerequisite and meet the required qualifications and conditions of General Membership.
  • Existing general members are encouraged to upgrade their membership to RH.
  • RH applicants must provide documented professional experience and have current Public Liability Insurance of $5M and Professional Indemnity insurance of $1M (a Certificate of Currency will be required).  If you are an employee of an organisation you must provide a written statement that your employer holds the appropriate insurance cover.
  • AIH has negotiated for Fitzpatrick Insurance Brokers to provide concessional premiums to AIH RH and General members. You may have your own provider however, you may wish to contact Fitzpatrick Insurance Brokers insure@fitzpatrick.com.au for their best rate.
  • RH Members are entitled to use the post nominal RH 000 (each RH is provided with a registration number).
  • RH membership will be considered also where the applicant can provide evidence of working continuously in the industry for no less than five (5) years.
  • Details of your experience will be required on the ‘Professional Experience’ form with your application..
  • All RH applications are required to provide a passport style  ‘head shot’ photograph.

Corporate Member:

AIH offers businesses and organisations a category that adds value and other opportunities to your enterprise.  Registered Training Organisations  are excellent candidates for this category. AIH will reduce the membership rate for students are enrolled with an RTO Corporate Member.

Corporate members are featured on the AIH web site and offered first call on participation in AIH presentations and events.

Corporate Membership also includes one RH member as part of the membership package.


Associate Member
:  

For those who wish to be affiliated as a member of the Institute but have not yet completed their horticultural qualifications.  This category recognises knowledge, skills and experience over time as equivalent to that obtained through formal qualifications. Associate Members are entitled to use the post nominal AAIH following their name. An Associate member may apply for Registered Horticulturist accreditation on the attainment of their qualification and may also be at the discretion of the AIH National Executive at the initial application.


Graduate Student Member: 
 

Membership to this category is to support new graduates entering the profession and is only available for one (1) year at which time you are encouraged to upgrade to full General Membership or Registered Horticulturist accreditation.

You will need to provide course enrolment details.


Student Member:
 

Open to students who are studying full or part time for their first horticulture qualification at Certificate Level III and above.  Students who are enrolled with a Training Provider that is a Corporate Member of AIH are entitled to reduced fees.. Students are required to attach proof of enrolment and a list of units that they are enrolled in to their application form. Contact

Is available to former RH and General Members who have retired from their careers, yet wish to maintain membership of their Institute.

CURRENT FEES (AUD$) 

  • Fees are current to 30th June of the year from date of approval. Fees are due on 30th June for the subsequent year. 
  • All prices include GST except for ** categories
  • All prices are in $AUD
  • A ‘one-off’ Joining Fee applies to some membership categories. (See Schedule)
  • A ‘one-off’ initial Accreditation Fee applies to all RH applications
  • Midterm application fees will be prorated and added to one full year to be current to the following June 30.
  • It is a condition of membership that all members must comply with the AIH Code of Ethics and support the objectives of the AIH
  • It is a requirement in order to maintain an RH accreditation members must be financial and provide a record of their approved CPD activities which are subject to audit.
